Nestled in the rolling hills of the Albanian Riviera, Zoe Hora makes an unforgettable first impression.
As you drive through lush greenery and winding roads that feel plucked from a James Bond chase scene, the town of Dhërmi suddenly reveals itself — a cascade of clay-colored rooftops scattered along cliffs, overlooking the sparkling turquoise coastline below.
Known for its Greek- and Albanian-speaking community, beekeeping traditions, and proximity to Corfu in the south, Dhërmi feels both ancient and untouched. Perched high above it all, Zoe Hora quietly commands its view.

Zoe Hora’s architecture channels rustic Mediterranean elegance: sun-warmed brick, aged stone, wooden shutters, cobblestones, terracotta touches, and leafy green vines peppered with bursts of vibrant pink bougainvillea. The property unfolds in tiers — secluded terraces and quiet corners invite guests to sneak away for private moments, while golden hour paints the sky blush pink, fading slowly behind the mountains that cradle the Ionian Sea.

The resort’s 36 rooms are spread throughout restored village homes, each thoughtfully preserved to reflect the charm and character of Dhërmi’s old town. While no two rooms are alike, they all share a rustic-chic sensibility: curved archways, cave-like stone walls, soft linens, and ambient lighting that exudes romance. Some boast grand soaking tubs with views of the village, others open to private terraces with jacuzzis or his-and-hers walk-in showers.

At the heart of Zoe Hora is its most photographed space — the infinity pool and adjacent dining terrace. Here, guests drift between sun-drenched swims and Aperol Spritzes, the sea glittering below. By sunset, the patio becomes a gathering point for friends, couples, and stylish travelers capturing that golden moment.

The Zoe Spa was easily the most memorable part of my stay. Subterranean and softly lit, it’s home to a serene indoor pool, a salt room, steam cave-like spaces, and three styles of sauna — including Finnish and infrared. The highlight? The Emotional Shower, a multi-sensory experience with shifting water pressure, light, and sound designed to relax body and mind. Honestly, visit the spa for this alone. With wellness packages and fitness classes, Zoe Hora offers more than just a place to sleep — it’s a retreat in the truest sense.

During the day, hotel cars shuttle guests down to the sister property, Drymades Inn, for beach time on the Ionian Sea. Through Zoe Hora, you can also arrange yachting excursions, hiking trips, and village tours — the kind of sun-drenched, salt-kissed experiences that make a European summer feel eternal.
The on-site Zoe Restaurant is considered one of the best in the country — and for good reason. Like the rest of the property, it pairs spectacular views with a sense of occasion. The menu celebrates fresh Albanian ingredients with Mediterranean flair. Think locally caught seafood, generous cuts of steak, and handmade pastas. The mushroom pappardelle and duck ragù? A personal favourite.

Zoe Hora feels like a secret — the kind of boutique gem you’d expect to stumble upon in the hills of Italy or Greece, but at half the price and without the crowds. Albania is still an emerging destination, and Dhërmi retains an authentic, slightly raw charm. Come soon, and you’ll experience it before it’s polished beyond recognition.
It offers the scale and service of a well-established resort, but with the soul and individuality of a boutique hotel — a rare balance that’s hard to come by.
Romantic, charming, and rustic-luxurious. Zoe Hora is ideal for couples looking to disconnect and reconnect. It’s also an exceptional setting for weddings or private gatherings, with its panoramic terraces and intimate nooks.
Would I Go Back?
Absolutely. For a summer escape with my partner or a solo retreat to recharge, Zoe Hora hits all the right notes: stylish, serene, and still off most people’s radar.
